Week #46 (April 25, 2016)
Quote/Scene of the week:
1) Cleofas (less-active member) had us moving a bunch of junk around
and I picked up an old metallic sheet, a ton of rats ran out, and my
companion gets a stick to poke at them, Cleofas just yells (in total
Nacho Libre accent):
"MATALO! MATALO!" -- translated -- "Kill him! Kill him!"
2) I put the wrong kind of soap in our dish washer (like a dunce) and
it flooded our kitchen.
The only big news this week is that Elder Fine and I got transferred
(halfway through the transfer) to white wash this random English ward
across the lake. The stake president decoded that he wanted spanish
missionaries there, so President just sent us there. Pretty big
change, especially right after this area started to get up and crawl a
little.
The Heath Ward is incredible though. We went for the first time this
Sunday and they are so ready to work with us. The missionaries here
before us were really hard workers and very heart-broken to leave, it
was tough transitioning with all the members mentioning their names
inquisitively.
After 3 exchanges this week with district leaders we had a super
special event on Saturday - Elder Lawrence Corbridge of the Seventy
(the one who gave the greatest talk ever in the regional conference
about "Primary and Secondary Questions") came and visited us and blew
our minds.
He spent 40 minutes proving logically the truthfulness of 1) the
existence of God 2) the prophethood of Joseph Smith 3) the Messiaship
of Christ.
One of the hugest mind bombs he gave us was this: "Once you come to
accept a greater reality, you will accept lesser realities."
He cited one reality in particular as the greatest from which we can
derive many others: "The fact that 'I am' and 'You are' - our
recognition of our actual existence."
When we recognize that we can accept the reality of a creator and move
forward building on the truths that follow.
It was incredible, most missionaries fell asleep, I was just in giggly
awe the whole meeting. I think that I want to major in philosophy
because of this guy.
Love yall to Kolob and Back

Week #45 (April 18, 2016)
Quotes/Scenes of the week:
1) Watched an old white guy in walmart just straight soapbox this
muslim lady in the middle of the store this morning, telling her all
about "THE LORD JESUS CHRIST" in the toiletries section. Welcome to
Texas.
2) My companion ordering at Peiwei: "Something with a lot of meat."
3) Our Bishop goes by "Bishop Goat" even though his real name is
Gonzalez. Why you ask? Just cuz.
4) My iPad screen is spider-web shattered.
5) Teaching a total New-Yorker how to pray (on an exchange) and he
yells to his coworker (in the best NY accent you have ever heard): "AY
Vinny - wanna come pray?!?!"
This week was jam packed.
Right after we left P-day on Tuesday, a massive hail storm swept over
the north part of our area and wrecked a bunch of stores and trailers.
We went to a less-active's house later in the week and she had
tennis-ball-sized holes in her roof (no exaggeration).
The rest of the week we hardly got to work in our area. Between
exchanges with companionships, stake president reports, and the
meeting we put together there wasn't a ton of time left for us to work
in our area, but we maximized the time we had.
My birthday was incredible. Thank you so much for the gifts and the
wishes! I managed to keep it a secret to everyone else in the mission
til Sister Taylor got up and announced it at zone meeting. Her and
President are incredible, honestly.
Other than those big events there isnt a ton to know. Our ward council
is doing great work and I am hyped for the coming weeks with them.
Here's some pics.
Love you all to Kolob and Back!

Week #44 (April 11, 2016)
Quotes of the week:
"Just put that egg in your OJ in the morning, you won't be hungry til 2 pm."
- Cleofas (hispanic less-active who gave us a bunch of chicken eggs).
This week has been great. I don't have a ton of time.
I have loved my new area and my new companion and I get along well.
All the birthday packages have come in, I feel super loved, thank you so much.
Being a zone leader has been a lot of new responsibilities. We did a
special stake presidency meeting with the Heath stake president,
President Taylor came. We just reported on missionary work in his
stake, it was intense.
We have interviews with President this week on Thursday - so excited!
Zone leaders get interviewed last, so we'll be there for a super long
time waiting, but President Taylor is amazing.
Spiritual thought:
President Taylor has this phrase he uses a lot - he says: "Hard equals holy."
How powerful is that?
It's definitely true.
Love you all to Kolob and back!
(One of my few converts, but a good one at that.)

Week #43 (April 4, 2016)
Quotes/Scenes of the week:
Quotes/Scenes of the week:
1. (in an amazing German accent) "How do you expect to teach other people about zer next ordinance, if you aren't sinking about your own?"
- former president of the Germany Berlin mission visiting our ward gave me this advice 1 on 1, we laughed hard together after he said it, but he wasn't kidding.
2. (dead serious) "You're looking at a man, who FLEW."
- homeless man the other elders in our ward met who claimed to have had a 44 inch vertical back in the day.
3. (dead serious) "I. Am. Elvis Presley."
- guy the other companionship met at the post office, showed them a WWII ID, and told them he literally faked his death before we were born.

4. (in another amazing German accent) "Even if there were a perfect woman in the world, do you really sink she would be interested in YOU?!"
- Dieter F. Uchtdorf, bringing it home for the German team in Priesthood session.
Fam and friends, it's been a great week.
TIMEOUT
Literally in the middle of writing this email, I just found out that I am getting transferred out of this area. Umm. This is so unexpected. I am heartbroken. Still don't know where I am going.
I need to go pack now, so let me keep this email short.
Conference is really awesome on the mission, loved it.
Renlund's talk was my favorite.
The Lord will comfort you when sad.
I know that this church is true.

In a separate note to his momma:
So we go out with a member this week, and we are pulling up to this
freeway ramp when we hit a red light. I see this dude about to cross
the street, so I roll down my window and give him a card. In a
hilarious mexican accent this member goes:
"Thas a leel beet ov ecksessiv mishionary work elder."
